2nd September Blog – Trip Day 4 We decided to stay in Granada for an extra day and ride some of the routes in the vicinity. After a bit of a lie in we were on the road for about 9.15am. The plan for the day was to head for Malaga and then north west into the mountains to a place called Ronda. The ride to Ronda was supposed to be excellent. To headed south on the E902 to start with, taking a few detours to look at some interesting canyons and a huge dam. The road towards Malaga was really hard work, lots of traffic, cars everywhere, not much fun at all. At about 1am we stopped for lunch in a busy seaside resort called Nerja and had some much needed pizza and pasta. Time was pushing on so it was later than anticipated when we set off Ronda. We took the A7 to Torremolinos and then the A404 to Coin. Again this was heavy going, lots of traffic, lots of stop starting. Once we joined the A366 things started to improve. The run up and down through the mountains were some of the best bike roads so far. Plenty of tight twisty turns and stunning scenery. From Ronda we started to head back to Granada at about 4.30pm. The ride back wasn’t the best, one of the key roads back was unexpectedly closed and we spent ages trying to navigate around it. By the time we got back to the hotel in Granada it was after 9pm. We were all completely knackered, our planned easy day had turned into a bit of marathon. After a quick shower, we headed out into Granada and found a great restaurant for some much need biker fuel. The Tiramisu we especially good! |
